LA GRANDE, Ore. - No. 18 Eastern Oregon Women's Soccer suffered its second straight loss at home Saturday night as the Mountaineers dropped a 1-0 contest to in-state Southern Oregon on Senior Day. With the loss, EOU falls to 9-4-0 overall and 6-3-0 in CCC play.
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers outshot the Raiders (8-4-0, 6-2-0 CCC) 11-8 overall and had the advantage in shots on goal at 4-2. EOU led in nearly every statistical category but was unable to score.
• The Raiders only edge was in fouls as they committed seven to just four by EOU. The Mountaineers also had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks, while Southern won the saves battle at 4-1.
• The lone goal of the contest came in the seventh minute when Mia Santander played a long pass from Jordan Bell and found the back of the net from 10 yards out.
• Santander's goal snuck past the reach of
Madeline Barker and gave Southern the lead at 1-0. The score remained at that by the halftime break. Both teams had six shots in the frame.
• The second period saw the Raiders defense play a stout frame as they limited the Mountaineers to five shots with just one coming on goal. Southern only had two shots in the same span.
