Mountaineers Begin Final Homestand Against Two In-State Rivals

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Mountaineer Men's Soccer returns home this week to start what will be the team's final homestand of the regular season. Eastern Oregon begins its four-game home series against two in-state rivals.

Southern Oregon Raiders (10-2-0, 6-2-0 CCC)

Kickoff 
• The Mountaineers (4-6-0, 4-3-0 CCC) enter the weekend currently sitting sixth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings.
• Despite dropping a 1-0 overtime match at Rocky Mountain College, EOU still finds itself in the hunt for a postseason berth to the CCC Tournament. 
• The Mountaineers games this weekend will be their first at home in the month of October. EOU has played at home just three times this season.
• With 12 points, EOU is just one point back of being in a tie for fifth with College of Idaho.

How to Watch/Follow
• All home games this year will be webcast on the Mountie Sports Network at www.EOUSports.com/watch. All EOU home games will be Pay-Per-View and can be purchased for $7.95 per game. Fans can also purchase an Eastern Oregon All-Access pass to watch all 2021-22 EOU home sporting events for $100.
• Calling the action for this year's home games will be Trevor Curl on play-by-play. Livestreams for all home games will begin 15 minutes prior to kickoff.

EOU Athletics Spectator Policy
• Spectators will be allowed at EOU sporting events, but masks will be required to be worn correctly (over mouth AND nose) at ALL indoor and outdoor events per state and local policy. This is subject to change at any time.
• Failure to comply with conference or institutional attendance policies will result in removal from venue and any further EOU contests.
• General Admission is allowed for both indoor and outdoor events and is on a first come, first serve basis. To see ticket prices for individual EOU sporting events and to purchase tickets, click here.
• Concessions will be available for outdoor EOU athletic events, but not indoor EOU athletic events.
• Students, faculty, and staff wishing to attend indoor EOU Athletic Events can do so for FREE by showcasing their EOU ID card.

Story Lines
• The Mountaineers closed out their three-game road trip with a 2-1 record. EOU picked up a 3-1 win at College of Idaho and earned a forfeit win over Providence.
• Eastern has never defeated SOU and is 0-5-1 against the Raiders all-time.
• The Mountaineers opponents this weekend currently rank in the top-three of the conference standings.
• Going into the weekend, EOU is just one point ahead of four other teams that are tied for seventh in the CCC standings.

Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers dropped a hard fought overtime contest on the road to Rocky Mountain by a final of 1-0.
• The Batllin' Bears limited the Mountaineers to just two shots in the contest to secure the win.
• In net, Dalton Mauzay tallied five saves for EOU.

Previously Against Oregon Tech/Southern Oregon
• EOU and OIT played to a PK shootout when they last met in 2019 in the quarterfinal round of the CCC Tournament. EOU came back from a 3-1 deficit in the shootout to advance by a PK final of 4-3.
• The Mounties and Raiders also last met in 2019 at the conference tournament in the semifinal round. EOU advanced on PK's, 5-4, after the two squads played to a 2-2 tie.
• All-time, Eastern is just 1-4-1 against the Hustlin' Owls with the lone win coming back in 2018, 2-1, in La Grande.
• Against Southern, the Mountaineers are 0-5-1 all-time in the program's young history. EOU has yet to score a goal against the Raiders in any of the five losses.

Mountaineers vs. CCC
• All-time, EOU is 38-37-5 against CCC opponents since the program's inception in 2015.
• The Mountaineers have finished with a .500 record or better three times in the program young history
• Eastern has qualified for the CCC Tournament twice (2018, 2019) and had a runner-up finish in 2019.
• The Mountaineers are 7-8-0 in CCC action under the direction of Jessy Watson.

Scouting the Competition
Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls

• OIT enters the weekend with an 11-1-0 overall record and is 7-1-0 in CCC play. The Hustlin' Owls are currently tied atop the conference standings with Corban at 21 points, respectively.
• Offensively, OIT has scored 35 goals this year and averages 3.18 goals per contest. They take an average of 20.5 shots per game and have tallied 21 assists so far.
• Defensively, OIT has allowed just three goals this season. The team has posted eight shutouts in 11 wins and has held opponents to just 4.9 shots per game. They have 19 saves on the year.
• Jake Mitchell leads the team in goals and points. He has scored eight goals this season to go along with three assists for a team best 19 points. He has 11 shots on goal and has taken 29 total.
• Brock Rideout is tied for second in goals scored with five, but stands alone at second in points with 13. He has dished out three assists this season and has taken a team high 37 shots, with 16 being on goal.
• Arthur Proose and John Sarna are tied for third in points with 11, respectively. Proost has five goals and one assist, while Sarna leads the team in assists with five to go along with three goals.
• Arthur Pasang also has three assists this season to tie for second. He has scored twice for a total of seven points. 
• Joel Witts has started 11 games in net for the Hustlin' Owls. He has a .864 save percentage and has tallied 19 saves on the year.

Southern Oregon Raiders
• The Raiders are 10-2-0 overall entering the weekend and sport a 6-2-0 record in conference play. They currently are third in the conference standings with 18 points.
• Offensively, SOU has scored 30 goals this season and averages 2.69 per contest. They take an average of 20.8 shots per game and have tallied 16 assists on the year.
• Defensively, the Raiders have surrendered 12 goals on the year and hold opponents to 1.08 per game on just an 8.4 shot average. They have three shutouts this year. 
• Alan Gaytan leads the way on offense with seven goals and one assists for a team best 15 points. He has taken 33 shots total and had 17 come on goal.
• Second in goals scored is Adrian Villegas with four. He also has one one assist for nine points which ranks third on the team.
• Second in points is Joao de Santos with 10. He has three goals on the year and leads the team in assists with four. 
• Moises Hernandez is second in assists for the Raiders with two. 
• Liam Kalhagen has started in 10 games at goalkeeper this season. He has tallied 27 saves and has a save percentage of .711. He has posted three shutouts this year. 

Up Next
• EOU will wrap up the home portion of its schedule next weekend when the team faces Carroll College and Walla Walla. The Mountaineers will face Carroll on Friday, Oct. 22, followed by Walla Walla on Sunday, Oct. 24. Kickoff for both games is set for 4 p.m. PT inside Community Stadium.
