EOU Dominates Wolves to Earn Road Sweep

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon men's basketball team finished off a perfect road weekend with an 81-53 victory at Walla Walla on Sunday in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The Mountaineers (13-12, 7-9 CCC) dominated the game with a 12-point halftime lead, outscoring the Wolves by 16 in the second half. Once again, junior Max McCullough paced the offense with 24 points, shooting 9-for-12 with three made threes.

Junior Jamal Heckard added 15 points with six boards and three steals. Senior Brock Johnson scored 11 points off the bench. Junior Josh Brown and redshirt freshman Justin Jeske each added seven points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Unlike Saturday night, the Mounties did not need to recover from a slow start as they led from start to finish. EOU got the first points and never looked back, only seeing the Wolves pull to within one point at 23-22 before a 14-point run put EOU well ahead at 37-22.

The Blue and Gold kept up the momentum in the second half, not allowing Walla Walla back into the game. EOU led by as many as 31 with 3:37 left, putting little double on the victory.

The defense played a strong game, limiting the Wolves to 34 percent from the field and 16 percent on three's (2-for-12). The offense took care of business with nine three pointers and a 51 percent shooting percentage.

BY THE NUMBERS
12 – The Mountaineers shot 100 percent from the free throw line, making all 12 attempts.

44 – The Blue and Gold finished with 44 rebounds to WWU's 25.

11 – Johnson had a season-high 11 points, making three of his three-pointers.
