EOU Women's Basketball Defeats Multnomah 67-58

PORTLAND, Ore. -  The Eastern Oregon women's basketball team extended its winning streak to seven-high seven games, defeating the Multnomah Lions 67-58 Saturday evening in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
 
Senior Jane Nelson led the Mountaineers' offense and both teams in scoring with 19 points along with eight rebounds. She also went 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Fellow senior Rachel Fielder also contributed to the EOU offense with 15 points of her own. Megan Still added had 11 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The only time Multnomah led was two minutes into the first quarter with their biggest lead of three points, 5-2. Then, the Mounties went on a 12-point run to regain the lead. In the second quarter, EOU continued to display dominance throughout the game, outscoring their opponents 22-15.

The Lions tried to turn the game around in the second half and continued pushing in the third quarter. Their offense outscored the Mounties 17-13 in the third to close the gap to just nine points 51-42. They continued to battle, however EOU's strong first half performance and solid fourth quarter were able to edge out the Lions.

The Mountaineers out rebounded the Lions 49-29 with 11 of those coming from Jillian Albright who had all-round outstanding game with six points, nine assists and the 11 boards.

UP NEXT
The Mountaineers will be back home Wednesday night in Quinn Coliseum to face I-84 rivals College of Idaho at 5:30 p.m.
