Mounties Win All 6 Matches to Defeat Grays Harbor 33-17

REDMOND, Ore. – The No. 13 Eastern Oregon women's wrestling team dominated the night on Friday, winning all six scheduled matches to defeat Grays Harbor College 33-17 on the road.

Despite three forfeits that gave the Chokers 15 of their 17 points, the Mountaineers proved to be too difficult for Grays Harbor. The Chokers began with the first 10 points on forfeits, but EOU responded with three-straight technical falls by seniors Cassidy Freeman and No. 11 Amber Pair at 116 and 123 pounds, and sophomore No. 16 Krystal Fabricante at 130 pounds to make the score 15-12 in favor of EOU.

The Mountaineers then completed the night with three pins in four matches to secure the victory. Sophomore No. 16 Morgan Shines earned a fall at 136 pounds to continue the run of wins for EOU. After a double-forfeit, sophomore Erin Redford picked up another pin at 155 pounds and No. 11 Dempsi Talkington wrapped up the matches with another pin at 170 pounds to make the score 33-12.

Grays Harbor won the final match by forfeit, but it made no difference as the Mounties earned the victory 33-17.

The Mountaineers next compete next Friday at rival Southern Oregon at 7 p.m. in Ashland.
