Game Notes: EOU Visits Rival No. 20 Southern Oregon

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon football team continues on the road for another rivalry matchup, visiting No. 20 Southern Oregon on Saturday, Sep. 7 at 1 p.m. as they look to rebound off of a tough week one loss.

NOTES

• Saturday's game will be the 77th meeting between the two teams with Southern Oregon owning a 54-19-3 record against EOU. The Mountaineers won the previous matchup, 27-17 over then No. 7 SOU in Ashland.
 
• EOU holds an all-time record of 285-468-14 (.379). 2019 marks the 74th-consecutive season in program history. EOU did not compete between 1942-45 due to World War II.
 
• In the previous matchup with Southern, EOU used a dominant defensive effort through three quarters and a 17-0 advantage in the third to down SOU 27-17. Kai Quinn and Victor Dias combined for 169 yards on the ground while the defense limited the Raiders to 306 total yards.
 
• The Mountaineers are 34-29 on the road all-time under Camp. They went 7-1 as the visiting team in 2016, but were 1-4 on the road in 2017. EOU improved its road record in 2018, going 3-2 including a win over No. 7 Southern Oregon 27-17 in Ashland.
 
• The Blue and Gold have won four of the last five games against SOU played in Ashland. EOU played an official road game against Southern in Sherwood, Oregon in 2017, falling 21-31.
 
• Southern Oregon will play its first Frontier Conference game of the year after falling 77-19 at NCAA Division I Sacramento State. The Raiders tied with EOU, C of I and Montana Western for second place in the Frontier in 2018.
