Kiebert’s Brace Earns No. 7 EOU Women’s Soccer a 2-2 Tie

SALEM, Ore.- The Eastern Oregon women's soccer team drew a 2-2 tie after double overtime against Corban University, Saturday afternoon in Cascade Conference play.

On a roll after a flurry of goals from the day before, it didn't take long for the Mountaineers (4-0-2, CCC 1-0-1) to take the lead over the Warriors (4-2-1, CCC 1-0-1) through senior Nan Kiebert. Sarah Mitchell crossed the ball, finding Kiebert's head to give the team the early lead. However, just before the break, Corban leveled the game when Klarissa Barajas capitalized on a Mountie defensive error.

The Warriors came out firing after half time scoring within one minute of play through Hannah Shore, giving them the 2-1 lead. This did not deter EOU, who answered back with a goal of their own less than 10 minutes later. It would be Kiebert once again, who got a piece of the ball with a header to deflect by the keeper off of a Josee Bassett free kick.

With the scores leveled, neither side could pull ahead forcing the game to overtime. Not even an additional 20 minutes could separate the two sides with the final score staying at 2-2. EOU had more chances, outshooting Corban 18-11 at the end of the 110 minutes. Corban goalkeeper Malie Kuia came up big several times denying the Mountie attack, finishing the game with 12 saves. Kiebert and freshman Erika Skindlov led the team in shots with six apiece

The team will next travel to I-84 rivals College of Idaho on Friday for a 4 pm MT kick off.
