Ah You Dias' Record 45 Points Leads EOU Over Eagles 94-91 In 2OT

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The No. 10 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team pulled off a double overtime victory in an electrifying Cascade Collegiate Conference game, defeating Northwest University 94-91 on Friday night.

Senior guard Maya Ah You Dias paved the way for the Mounties' thrilling victory, finishing with career highs of 45 points and 17 rebounds in a game in which EOU needed every point from the senior. Ah You Dias broke the program record for points, previously at 42 points held by Donita Huskey (1976-77) and Payton Parrish (2018).

The Mountaineers (21-2, 15-0 CCC) found themselves trailing late in the first quarter, and went into the break 21-22. In the second quarter EOU began to gather momentum and used their long range shooting to get ahead of Northwest (8-18, CCC 5-11), finishing the half with a 10 point lead.

The Mounties maintained the lead throughout the third, however, the Eagles did not give up and began their comeback in the fourth quarter. Northwest had a late surge making it a three point game with 57 seconds left to play. After a making a crucial stop, NU had the ball with 24 seconds left and found Mariah Stacoma as she hit a deep three to tie the game 71-71 with 16 seconds remaining. Eastern Oregon had the last attempt of regulation and came up unsuccessful on the buzzer, forcing the game into overtime.

The first period of overtime was very even with both teams trading shot for shot on the offensive side while also working hard defensively, but nothing could separate the two sides. At one point, Northwest's Andie Kristinat gave her team a three point lead 78-75 and NU forged ahead. However, with 20 seconds left, Ah You Dias was able to pull the score level with her career best 34th point of the night, ending the first period 80-80.

In the second overtime period, the Eagles led 91-89 until junior Jane Nelson put the Mountaineers in front 92-91 with her fourth three pointer of the night, which put an end to Northwest's hopes at victory.

Nelson was very efficient on the floor in all areas, shooting 7-for-10 on field goals, 4-for-4 on three pointers and 2-for-2 on free throws. She tallied 20 points and five rebounds. Adding to the Mountie offense, junior Madison Crews had eight points, three rebounds and four assists. Freshman Beverly Slater also had eight rebounds with four points.

The women's basketball team returns to the court tomorrow night in Olympia, Washington against Evergreen College at 5:30 p.m.
