No. 17 Mountaineers Cruise to 76-50 Win Over MU in CCC Opener

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 17 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team nearly led from start to finish, defeating Multnomah 76-50 on Friday night in the Cascade Collegiate Conference season opener at Quinn Coliseum.
 
The Mountaineers (7-4, 1-0 CCC) used a balanced scoring approach, in which 12 different players got on the score sheet, to down the Lions (2-4, 0-1 CCC) at home.
 
EOU outscored Multnomah by at least nine points in each of the first three quarters to go up by as many as 32 points before pulling the reins back in the fourth quarter.
 
The Blue and Gold shot an efficient 43.7 percent from the field, but mostly won on the strength of their defensive effort, limiting MU to 32.3 percent and 0-for-11 from behind the arc. EOU scored 48 of their 76 points in the paint and got 39 total points from the bench.
 
Sophomore Beverly Slater led the offense with 14 points despite only playing 18 minutes. Junior Megan Still had 13 points and senior Rachel Fielder recorded 11. Twelve different players played at least 10 minutes for EOU. Junior Jillian Albright pulled down 12 rebounds including five offensive. Senior Emma Logan had eight boards and senior Madison Crews finished with six rebounds, five assists and four points.
 
On the Lions' side, Erykah Campbell had a powerful double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds, adding three blocks. Dalila Rincan added 11 points with five rebounds.
 
The Mountaineers are back at home on Saturday night, hosting Warner Pacific at 5:30 p.m. at Quinn Coliseum.
