SOU's 2 Second Half Goals Edge EOU 2-0

Box Score

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon's men team soccer team had an early red card, forcing them to play down with ten men for over 80 minutes. Down a player, they were defeated by two second half goals by Southern Oregon in the Cascade Collegiate Conference battle, 2-0.

The Mountaineers (4-7-1, 2-5 CCC) were forced to play very defensive after a red card in the eighth minute, leaving EOU with 10 men on the field. They managed to hold off the raiders (7-5, 5-2 CCC) attack until 71 minutes into the match when Southern's  Adrian Villegas split Eastern's defense to feed Sam Walker for his fifth goal of the season.

Despite being down a man the Mounties kept pushing, throwing extra players up in the attack to try and create scoring chances. However, the Raiders capitalized on this and put the game out of reach with two and half minutes left, scoring the insurance goal.

SOU had a slim 9-7 advantage in total shots even with the extra man. Calvin Mitchell was responsible for the only shot that required a save from Raider keeper Wyatt Zabinski in the 39th minute.

The team will next travel to Billings, Montana next Friday to face Rocky Mountain College.
