LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 24 Eastern Oregon football team fell to No. 12 Rocky Mountain 48-10 on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon in Frontier Conference action.

The No. 24 Mountaineers (5-4) had problems stopping the potent Rocky Mountain passing attack, and were out of sync offensively for most of the game.

No. 12 Rocky Mountain (8-2) gained 540 yards of total offense on the day, recording 74 plays from scrimmage while controlling the ball for just under 38 minutes.

The Battlin' Bears had an explosive day on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Jacob Bakken threw for 423 yards and five scores in the game, finding wide receiver Max Gray 12 times for 117 yards and three touchdowns. They did not have much success on the ground however, gaining only 95 yards on 34 carries.

The highlight of the night for EOU was wide receiver Brenden Kelly, who eclipsed 3,000 career-receiving yards for the Blue and Gold, adding to his program record. The senior sensation finished the afternoon with four catches for 83 yards.

The lone touchdown of the game for EOU came courtesy of running back Kaler Moore, who scored a 45-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Moore accumulated 51 yards on the ground in four chances. Quincy Backes ended as the leading ball carrier for the Mounties, carrying eight times for 80 yards.

Although the Mountaineers finished with 338 yards in the game, they were only able to tally 161 yards through the first three quarters, trailing 41-3 at the time. They gained just 19 yards on the ground in the first 45 minutes, but ended up with 164 rushing yards.

Defensively, Isaiah Cranford led the Mountaineers with 12 total tackles, with Justin Hughes, Zackary Jacobs, and Eli Teuteu all recording seven. Chase Van Wyck took down the quarterback two times, occurring on back-to-back plays. Teuteu also added a sack to his tackle total. Defensive back Eric Prom intercepted Bakken once in the game, coming in the red zone at the start of the second quarter off a deflected ball.

Prior to Saturday's game, the Mountaineers honored the careers of their 14 seniors and assistant coach Anfernee Sloan. Playing in their final regular season games at Community Stadium were Hughes, Kelly, TJ Hancock, Skylar Williams, Nathan Harden, Erik Wilson, Alec Yangos, Kyle Hall, Colten Alefteras, Mick Wilson, Nico Chavez, Gabe Giacci, Zach Lacey and Nick De Alba.
