CALDWELL, Idaho. – The Eastern Oregon men's basketball team ended its six-game losing streak, winning a close battle 71-67 against Montana Western to open the Taco Bell Shootout on Friday.

The victory on Friday ended a long losing streak for the Mountaineers (3-6) who had given up 70 or more points in each loss. Against Montana Western, EOU allowed a season-low 67 points, holding the Bulldogs to just 34 percent shooting on the evening.

Sophomore Jordan May led the team offensively with another big performance. May had a game-high 25 points, making 9-of-16 from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Foul trouble continued to be an issue for the Mountaineers, recording 31 personal fouls in the game. The fouls allowed the Bulldogs to reach the free-throw line 47 times on the night, but UMW was able to knock down just 29 for under 62 percent.

On the other side, EOU made 21-for-27 from the charity stripe to nearly equal Montana Western's total, despite the large disparity in opportunities.
