Mountaineers Score 3 in the Final 10 Minutes to Defeat Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore - The Eastern Oregon women's soccer team finished the weekend with two victories after defeating Warner Pacific University Sunday afternoon 3-0 with a flurry of goals in the final 10 minutes in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The game was scoreless and looked to be headed to overtime until the 82nd minute when freshman Mackinley Gregus picked up her ninth goal of the season off a tap in inside the box, assisted by sophomore Camie Edgington.

In the next five minutes of the game, EOU (11-1-2, 7-1-2 CCC) found the back of the net twice more. Freshman Kaitlyn Mcleod doubled the lead when she shot to the far post out of Warner Pacific keeper Alyssa Guthrie's reach. Senior Taylor Boyer capped off the thrilling finish, netting the last goal of the game after dribbling past defenders and slotting it home in the 88th minute.

The Mountaineer defense held strong, limiting the Knights to only four shots on goal. Junior Cydni Cottrell finished the game with three saves.

The win runs EOU's undefeated streak to nine matches as they have gone 7-0-2 in their last nine matches. 

The Mountaineers led the Knights (3-11, 2-6 CCC) with 13 shots in the first half, but could not find the back of the net through 45 minutes. Overall, EOU dominated the play with a 25-4 shot advantage for the match.

The team returns home to Community Stadium on October 19 at 6:30 PM against the Corban Warriors for Homecoming weekend with Senior day on October 21 at 1:30 p.m. against Northwest Christian.
