No. 13 Women’s Wrestling Ends Competition at NWCA Duals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. –
The No. 13 Eastern Oregon women's wrestling squad completed competition at the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals on Saturday morning.
 
Facing their third ranked opponent in as many duals, the Mountaineers fell to No. 11 Life 35-10 in the consolation quarterfinals. EOU went 1-2 at the highly competitive national duals.
 
 After dropping the first three matches, junior Jessica DeHart (9-6) picked up the Mountaineers first win. DeHart defeated Life's Tyesha Topps by technical fall in the 123-lb weight class to earn EOU four points.
 
In the 155-lb match, freshman Alexis Cavero (18-7) pinned Life's Zoe Wight at the 4:12 mark. Cavero picked up her team-leading 18th win of the season, grabbing the Mountaineers five points. Freshman Renay Monahan earned the team's final point, falling by a 4-1 decision at 143 pounds.
 
The Mountaineers won their first dual of the tournament on Friday against No. 9 Oklahoma City before falling to No. 3 McKendree, who placed second overall. No. 2-ranked Campbellsville took first place.
