EOU’s Winning Streak Comes to an End After Loss at No. 7 C of I

Box Score

CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 20 Eastern Oregon men's basketball team fell for the first time in nine games, dropping a road contest at the College of Idaho 69-59 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday night.

It was a tough night for the Mountaineers (18-4, 10-4 CCC) as they were held to 34.3% shooting from the field and 22.2% from behind the arc. The 59 points scored is the lowest total for EOU this season.

After getting the lead in the first half, the Mounties were stopped in the second half, scoring 27 points in the final 20 minutes. The Yotes (17-5, 11-1 CCC) executed their game plan successfully, keeping the conference's leading scorer and reigning player of the week, Max McCullough, at 5 points.

The Mounties forced College of Idaho to commit 14 turnovers but couldn't capitalize on the offensive end. Freshman guard Jordan May was the top scorer of the game with 21 points, while senior wing Austin Winegar helped him with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Keun Paul-Thompson was the top scorer for the Yotes with 18 points and Aziz Leeks supported him with 16 points and 10 boards on 8-for-9 shooting.

The Blue and Gold will return to action on Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. for EOU's Wear Red Night in support of heart disease awareness.
