PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 17 Mountaineers split against a pair of opponents at the Warner Pacific duals, falling to No. 14 Embry-Riddle before defeating host Warner Pacific on Saturday in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The Mountaineers (5-10) dropped the opening dual 30-15 against Embry-Riddle, but responded with a strong 34-10 victory over rival WPU in the day's final dual.

Junior Drake Randall had perhaps the biggest win of the night in the final match, defeating former national champion and No. 2 ranked Blake Cooper from Warner Pacific by an 8-5 decision. Randall was even wrestling up a weight class at 165-lbs, as he generally weighs in at 157-lbs for the Mounties. He won by forfeit against Embry-Riddle.

Sophomore Blake McNall, ranked No. 15 at 133 pounds in the NAIA, led the Blue and Gold with wins in both duals.  McNall took down No. 19-ranked Collin Anderson of Embry-Riddle by a 4-2 decision to start his day. He then defeated WPU's Kaleb Raber by an 18-2 technical fall.

Junior Mhar Caballa (No. 12 at 125-lbs) faced two tough opponents in No. 10-ranked Chandler Strand of  Embry-Riddle and No. 9 Josh Johnson of Warner Pacific. Caballa fell to Strand by fall, but rebounded with a 20-5 technical fall over Johnson.

Senior Eric Fan, ranked 10th at 197-lbs, defeated No. 16 Elias Mason of Embry-Riddle by injury a minute into their match. Fan later received a victory by forfeit against the Knights.

Also earning wins against Warner Pacific was sophomore Jacob Dupuis (174-lbs) and freshman Marco Retano (157-lbs). Dupuis defeated the Knight's Matthew Aguigui by injury while Retano took down WPU's Robert Frasier by a 5-3 decision. Teban Mansary earned a victory by forfeit against the Knights.
