Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. – The 12th-ranked EOU men's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games, dominating Multnomah, 115-85. Leading the way for EOU was senior forward Bryan McGriff who chalked up 35 points and nine boards while tossing two assists and deflecting two shots.

Three other Mountaineers scored in double figures. Following McGriff was junior wing Austin Winegar who tallied 14 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes of action. Junior wing Austin Strock was perfect for the night scoring 13 points while shooting 5-for-5 from field goal range and 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Rounding out the double-digit scorers was senior wing Travis Meeker who added 11 points, five rebounds, two assists as well as a block and a steal.

The Mountaineers (19-5, 12-3 CCC), got things going first at 19:47 in the first with a trey from McGriff with an assist from freshman guard Max McCullough. The three-ball kicked off a 7-0 run for EOU, with five points coming from McGriff.

A few minutes later, EOU extended its lead past 10 points, 14-4 with a layup from McGriff set-off by a defensive rebound from O'Donnell.

Despite the hole, the Lions (6-19, 2-13 CCC), refused to play discouraged. Multnomah capped off a 12-4 run with a three from Ben Grandle cutting the Mountie lead to only two, 27-25 with 8:44 to play until the half. However, with six minutes until the break, EOU responded with a three from junior guard Matt Wong that ended an 11-4 run for EOU, setting the Blue and Gold back up with a nine-point lead, 38-31.

The final two minutes of the first stanza went back and forth between the Lions and the Mountaineers, as Multnomah finished a 5-4 run and got the last bucket of the half with a jumper from Moe Keita with just 11 seconds until the teams took to the locker rooms.

Multnomah quickly added nine points while going three out of five from behind the arc to start the second. The Mounties combined for seven points during that same time spree and still controlled the lead, 59-50.

A pair of free throws from O'Donnell finished an 8-2 run for EOU at 12:33, as the Mountaineers held a 14-point lead, 73-59.

EOU built up a 24-point lead, 98-74 with 6:52 to play as senior guard Kentrell Washington put in a lay-in. Another layup from Washington one minute later put the Mounties in triple figures, 100-76 as they began to take full control of the ball game.

With 2:36 remaining, EOU held its largest lead of the game, 112-81 as a steal from freshman guard Rhett Schlader stole the ball from the Lions before taking it down the court for the lay-in.

Multnomah cut the EOU lead to 29, 114-85, with 46 seconds remaining, but the lead was too much. Junior guard Cole Ashby then went 1-for-2 from the charity stripe to return the lead to an even 30 points to end the game.
