LA GRANDE, Ore. – The 13th-ranked EOU men's basketball team moved on to the semifinals of the 2016-17 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, on Wednesday with an 84-58 thrashing of seventh seeded Warner Pacific. That same day, eighth seeded Corban shocked the conference with a 105-76 win over No. 6 and first seeded Northwest Christian.
Now, the Mountaineers are set to host the Warriors tomorrow night in Quinn Coliseum at 7 p.m.
EOU AT A GLANCE
EOU notched its first CCC playoff win since 2015, when the Mountaineers upset then tenth-ranked Concordia, 69-68.
The Blue and Gold have won five of their last six meetings vs. Corban and are averaging 101 points per game on the Warriors in the 2016-2017 season. The Mounties have now won 14 games in a row at Quinn Coliseum.
Against Warner Pacific, the Mountaineers totaled 26 assists in the game, while dropping nine threes in the first half alone. Leading the way for EOU was freshman guard
Max McCullough who recorded 19 points, going 7-for-10 from field goal range. Senior guard
Kentrell Washington put up another double-double, adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward
Bryan McGriff put up 16 points and nine boards, while junior wing
Austin Winegar dropped 11 points off the bench.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
During Corban's shocker of first seeded Northwest Christian, the Warriors shot 56.2 percent from field goal range while going 45.5 percent from three-point land. As a team Corban swept up 49 rebounds. Five Warriors tallied double digit points as Jeremiah Harris led the way with 22 points in 21 minutes of action.
On the season Corban is 16-15, going 8-12 in the CCC. On the road the Warriors are 5-10, and have won three of their last 10 games.
LAST MEETING
The Mountaineers secured an 84-72 road victory over Corban in their last meeting on Jan. 22. Washington tallied 27 points, McGriff added 21 and junior guard
Blake O'Donnell rounded out the highest scorers with 17 points.
