Ah You-Dias Scores 31 as No. 8 EOU Clips Owls 78-55

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A night after recording her first career triple-double, junior guard Maya Ah You-Dias scored a season-high 31 points as the No. 8 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team picked up its second Cascade Collegiate Conference victory 78-55 over Oregon Tech on Sunday.

Ah You-Dias had a career-high seven three-pointers made as she shot an incredible 63.6 percent from behind arc and 10 for-16 from the field. The junior also added eight rebounds and helped put the Owls away with 17-second half points.

Led by Ah You-Dias' incredible shooting night, the Mountaineers (8-2, 2-0 CCC) continued their hot shooting from the night prior as they hit 45.6 percent from the field and 56 percent from long range. The team also continues to be one of the best free throw shooting teams in the country, going 12-for-12 from the charity stripe.

Forward Stormee Van Belle also had a great game with 21 points and eight rebounds as the senior shot 7 for-11 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. In the fourth quarter, Van Belle had the team's first six points and posted eight total to help close out the game.

Senior guard Reece Bauer finished with a solid game of 10 points and six assists, junior guard Maren Herrud added eight points, senior forward Mariah Swanson had six points and six boards and senior guard Payton Parrish led the team with 10 rebounds.

The Mountaineers got off to a great start, scoring the first seven points before Oregon Tech got on the board. They extended the lead out to nine points 13-4 after a pair of threes by Ah You-Dias and Swanson. Herrud added a couple of three-point shots and had the Mountaineers up 22-10, but the Owls ended the quarter with their own pair of long-range shots including a buzzer beater to trail just 22-16 through 10 minutes.

The Owls had their best quarter of the game as they obtained their first and only lead 25-24 with 5:28 to play. The Mountaineers quickly erased the deficit as Ah You-Dias drained another three pointer. The Blue and Gold ended the half on a four-point run, taking a 36-32 advantage into the locker room.

Ah You-Dias came out hot in the third quarter with eight points in just over three minutes to give the Mounties a 47-37 lead. Bauer hit a three with 1:28 to go to extend the advantage to 15 points for EOU. After four free throws by the Owls, EOU led 59-48 after three quarters.

After allowing 16 points in each of the first three quarters, the Mountie defense toughed up to hold OIT to just seven points in the final 10 minutes. The Mountaineers outscored the Owls 19-7 going up by as many as 26 points before finally winning 78-55.

The Blue and Gold have a week away from conference action and will travel to NCAA Division III Linfield on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. from McMinnville, Oregon. The Mountaineers then have their CCC home opener on Dec. 15 against Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
