No. 8 EOU Wins 5th Straight with 73-58 Victory over Corban

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 8 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team rode a 21-10 third quarter advantage to its fifth-straight victory, defeating Corban 73-58 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Saturday night at Quinn Coliseum.

The Mounties remained unbeaten in conference games (11-2, 4-0 CCC), using a second half surge to take down the Warriors (6-5, 3-2 CCC). Both teams came in on four-game winning streaks, but the Mountaineers decisively extended theirs to five games with the win.

Junior guard Maya Ah You-Dias again awoke in the second half to lead EOU with 18 points. The All-American went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, finishing a perfect 17-for-17 from the charity stripe over the weekend. Ah You-Dias had 10 of her points in a third quarter that extended the Mounties lead to 58-42.

In the fourth quarter, the Blue and Gold extended the lead out to as many as 20 points, 67-47 with 5:36 to play, and never let the Warriors closer than 15 points from that moment on.

Senior guard Payton Parrish had her second-straight double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Parrish continued to shoot well from Friday's game, going 6-for-11 from the field with two three-pointers. Four of her 11 rebounds were on the offensive glass.

Junior guard Maren Herrud finished with 11 points and senior forward Stormee Van Belle added 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Senior guard Reece Bauer chipped in with eight points.

Corban came out shooting great in the first half at over 52 percent, but went cold in the second half at 28.6 percent and 1-of-8 from behind the arc. Maci Bozett led the team with 16 points, going 4-of-8 from long range. Jordan Woodvine had 14 points and Emily Yost added 10.

The Mountaineers remain at home to host conference rival College of Idaho on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. They will follow that up with an exhibition game at the University of Idaho on Thursday at 5 p.m. Mountain time.
