No. 13 EOU Swept by College of Idaho in CCC Semifinals

SALEM, Ore. – The No. 13 Eastern Oregon volleyball team was knocked out of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank, losing in three sets to No. 14 College of Idaho in the semifinals on Friday night on the campus of Corban University.
 
Without one of the two automatic conference bids to the NAIA Championships, the Mountaineers (22-9, 15-5 CCC) will await the NAIA Women's Volleyball Selection Show on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. Eastern time to see if they receive an at-large bid to the tournament.
 
The Mounties were limited all night by a tough Coyotes defense that held EOU to .126 hitting for the match and under .150 in all three sets. On the offensive, C of I hit .288 with 46 kills to 14 errors.
 
The Blue and Gold held closely in the first two sets before the Coyotes were able to use late runs to pull away. In the third set, C of I took 10 of the final 11 points to put the Mountaineers away.
 
Senior outside hitter and First Team All-CCC selection Amanda Miller led the team with eight kills. Co-CCC Player of the Year Madisen Garlie set down five blocks. Junior setter Sarah Carpenter had 17 assists and CCC Freshman of the Year Kiley McMurtrey posted 10 digs.
 
College of Idaho advances to the finals of the tournament where they will face either No. 1-seed and host Corban or No. 4-seed Northwest on Saturday.
 
The Mountaineers will next host a watch party for the NAIA Women's Volleyball Selection Show on Monday at 8 a.m. in the booster room of Quinn Coliseum to see where and who they will potentially play against in the national tournament, which begins Nov. 18.
