Box Score ASHLAND, Ore. – The No. 17 EOU women's basketball team saw its 10 game winning streak snapped to the only other remaining unbeaten team in CCC play. In a game that featured 13 total lead changes, the fourth-ranked Raiders ultimately came out on top with a 77-68 victory, Saturday evening, at Mountain Avenue Gym.
Offensively for the Mountaineers, junior guard
Maya Ah You-(Dias) led the way with a season-high 22 points and six boards while going 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Junior guard
Jessica Sexson added 12 points and senior
Donniesha Webber chipped in 13 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the field.
Autumn Durand led a quintet of players scoring in double figures for SOU, dropping 19 points and six rebounds.
It was a red-hot first quarter for the Raiders (16-1, 9-0 CCC) as the team collectively shot 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from beyond the arc and 11-of-19 (58.8%) from the field. Durand recorded 10 of her 19 points in the quarter, as the Mountaineers (15-3, 8-1, CCC) stared at a 31-23 deficit, going into the second period.
EOU jumped out to a 7-0 run to start the second period, thanks to a triple from junior guard
Payton Parrish and back-to-back buckets from junior forward
Stormee Van Belle and junior guard
Reece Bauer, forcing a Raider timeout. After exchanging triples out of the timeout, both teams would keep the score close, going back and forth, as Sexson nailed a trey before the break to head into the locker room down only one, (44-43).
In the third period, Webber's jumper gave the Blue and Gold a two-point lead (54-52) but with under 1:50 remaining in the quarter, the Raiders went on a 9-0 run, extending the margin to six (61-55).
Ah You opened up the fourth quarter with a triple but Demi Sahlinger responded right back with a three of her own, followed by a jumper, which would help the Raiders pull away and outscore EOU in the frame, 16-13.
