EOU Women’s Basketball’s Matchup With Southern Oregon Tabbed NAIA Game of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 17th-ranked EOU women's basketball team will be featured in this week's NAIA Network Women's Division II Basketball Game of the Week, presented by Stretch Internet.
 
On Saturday, the Blue and Gold (15-2, 8-0 CCC) will take on No. 4 Southern Oregon in a battle for first place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC). Like EOU, the Raiders have run the table thus far, picking up eight CCC wins by an average of 25 points.
 
Last season, EOU split with Southern Oregon (15-1, 8-0 CCC), as the Mountaineers gave the Raiders one of their two losses when they notched a six-point (75-69) win on January 16, 2016.
 
GAME TIME
EOU will tip off against Southern Oregon on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
 
EOU'S LAST TIME OUT
EOU is on a roll, having won 10 straight games, including its most recent wins last weekend against Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
 
In the 85-49 victory over the Lions, EOU tallied 21 assists and nailed 12 treys. Senior guard Darian Gasseling earned team-high honors with 14 points, while junior guard Khadija Neumeyer added a career-best 11 points. EOU led by as many as 38 and scored 34 points in the paint.
 
SERIES HISTORY
EOU and Southern Oregon will be square off for the 82nd time. The Raiders lead the all-time series, 41-40. However, the Blue and Gold has won 11 of the last 14 games. 
 
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Southern Oregon boasts one of the most proficient offenses in the country, tallying 83.3 points per game (sixth in NAIA) with a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio (fifth in NAIA). The Raiders' lone loss came in their season opener to Lewis-Clark State (90-51).
 
Autumn Durand leads the squad with 17.9 points per game and shoots 53.4 percent from the field, while Demi Sahlinger dishes out 4.6 assists per contest and ranks second in the NAIA with a 3.7 assist-to-turnover ratio. Durrand is also the team's leading rebounder with 8.8 boards per game.
