Mookerdum, Ostergaard Propel EOU Women’s Soccer Past Northwest Christian, 2-1

LA GRANDE, Ore. – A pair of midfielders on the EOU women's soccer team scored their first-career goals, and it was all the Mountaineers needed to pull off a 2-1 victory over Northwest Christian on Sunday afternoon at the EOU Soccer Field.

The Blue and Gold outshot the Beacons, 14-9, including a 10-4 edge in the first stanza.

EOU (2-1) got on the board in the 14th minute of the first half after senior midfielder Madissen Ostergaard sent one into the back of the net off a set piece from freshman forward Nan Kiebert.

However, shortly into the second half, Beacon striker Emily Miller answered with the equalizer, scoring her third goal of the weekend in the 47th minute.

Nearly eight minutes later, junior midfielder Yasmin Mookerdum delivered the game-winner, as she netted a goal from close range amidst a scramble in the box.

The Mountaineers and Beacons (3-3) battled back and forth in what was a strong defensive battle on both ends. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Parker registered four saves on the day, two of which came in the first stanza. Meanwhile, Beacon keeper Mackenzie Galick also posted four saves, all coming in the first half.

2 – Goal apiece for Ostergaard and Mookerdum, their first-career goals for EOU
