Tuesdays With Tim Camp: Week Four (Montana Tech)

FULL GAME NOTES vs. Montana Tech (Sept. 24)
 
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The 15th-ranked EOU football team will look to bounce back from its first loss of the 2016 campaign on Saturday, as the Blue and Gold hosts No. 10 Montana Tech. 
 
Ninth-year head football coach Tim Camp caught up with the Sports Information Office to comment on the matchup, as seen in the video above.
 
THE MATCHUP
EOU kicks off game four of the 2016 campaign by hosting No. 10 Montana Tech on Saturday, September 24 at 1 p.m. The Blue and Gold is looking to rebound from a 13-point defeat at the hands of College of Idaho.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday marks the 28th meeting between EOU and Montana Tech. The Orediggers hold a 14-13 edge in the series. However, the Mountaineers have taken four of the last five meetings by an average of 16 points.
 
CAMP VS. THE OREDIGGERS
Camp is 10-6 (.625) all-time vs. Montana Tech, including 5-3 at Community Stadium. In 2015, the Mountaineers split (33-21, 24-42) with the Orediggers.
 
ANOTHER TOP-25 BATTLE
EOU will be facing its third top-25 opponent of the season. Under Tim Camp, EOU is 15-18 all-time vs. top-25 opponents and 6-11 against top-10 foes. Three Frontier Conference squads are still ranked (No. 9 Sothern Oregon, No. 10 Montana Tech, No. 15 EOU).
 
EOU'S LAST TIME OUT
EOU suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday - a 20-7 setback at the hands of College of Idaho. After junior wide receiver Skylar Williams snagged a 31-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Zach Bartlow, the Mountaineers were kept silent en route to falling at Community Stadium.
 
Senior running back Alfred Gross posted a career-best 150 yards on 27 carries, while junior linebacker Michal Arenas and senior linebacker Tucker Stanley paced the Blue and Gold defensively with 14 (seven solo) and 11 (six solo) tackles, respectively. The Mountaineers got inside College of Idaho's 28 twice in the final 6:06, but the Blue and Gold couldn't get over the hump, yielding two turnovers on downs. EOU fell to 11-27-1 all-time against the Yotes.
 
MONTANA TECH'S LAST TIME OUT
Montana Tech cruised to a 48-12 victory over Rocky Mountain on Sept. 17. The Orediggers established dominance early, posting 24 points in the opening quarter. Quinn McQueary finished 18-for-27 and completed passes to nine different receivers on his way to 237 yards through the air, while Nolan Saraceni led the ground attack with 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Nic Amestoy tallied nine tackles, and Gunnar Kayser and Connor Wines posted seven tackles apiece. As a team, the Oredigger defense recorded 13 pass breakups.
 
In the third quarter, Saraceni hit his stride and raced past every Rocky Mountain defender for a 66-yard touchdown to extend Montana Tech's lead to 38-3. The Bears scored to start the fourth quarter on a Chase White pass to Brandon Mosely to make it a 29-point game (38-9) with 14:17 left, but Montana Tech fired back with a touchdown drive of their own, logging a 9-play, 55-yard drive on the ensuing possession.
