Winning Streak for EOU Women’s Soccer Ends at Three

Box Score

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The EOU women's soccer team saw its three-game winning streak end on Friday, as the Mountaineers dropped a 2-1 decision to The Master's in Incline Village, Nev.

After holding the Mustangs scoreless in the first stanza, Sierra Nevada's Kinley Kane scored a goal in the 47th minute to give The Master's (2-2-2) a 1-0 lead.

Less than a minute later, freshman forward Nan Kiebert earned a penalty kick after she was taken out by the Mustangs' keeper in the box. However, EOU (3-2) failed to capitalize on the possible equalizer.

Later in the match, the Mustangs added another tally to the scoreboard off a corner-kick piece that made its way past Blue and Gold senior goalie Jessica Parker.

In the 71st minute, sophomore defender Chelsey Nicol gave EOU a chance, netting the Blue and Gold's first goal of the match off a free kick from 35-yards out. The goal marked her first tally of the 2016 campaign.

But the Mustang defense managed to keep the Mountaineers at bay, holding EOU without a decent look in the final 20 minutes.

In goal, Parker paced EOU with five saves, four of which came in the first half.
