Dominant Second-Half Performance Propels EOU Men’s Soccer Past Sierra Nevada, 6-2

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The EOU men's soccer team matched a season-high six goals against Sierra Nevada, as the Blue and Gold improved to 4-0 with a 6-2 win on Saturday afternoon.

Sierra Nevada put the pressure on EOU early, punching in a goal in the 25th minute. Shortly after, EOU caught a break as an own goal knotted the game at one apiece.

The Mountaineers wasted no time taking the lead in the second frame, as freshman forward Oscar Munoz recorded his first goal of the season in the 48th minute. Munoz took a pass from freshman forward Micah Hill and chipped it over the keeper's head for the finish.

A familiar face on the opposition showed up once again, as Antonio Perez scored off a ricochet off the crossbar in the 61st minute to post his second goal and tie the game at two apiece.

In the 64th minute, junior forward Tyler Hoiem took a one-touch pass from sophomore forward Elvis Pavon, to put EOU up, 3-2, and the Blue and Gold never looked back. Ten minutes later, senior defender Osvaldo Martinez netted EOU's first penalty kick of the year for the decisive goal.

In the last 15 minutes of the game, the Mountaineers scored twice as Hoiem recorded his second goal of the match, and then senior midfielder Cristian Anguiano got on the board with his second goal of the season.
