SERIES HISTORY
EOU and Marian are meeting for the first time in program history. The Blue and Gold's last win over a No. 1 team came during the 2011 campaign, when the Mountaineers defeated Carroll, 41-33, in Helena Mont.

EOU'S LAST TIME OUT
EOU earned its first-ever postseason win and school record ninth triumph on Nov. 19 by defeating No. 7 Doane, 34-28. The Mountaineers led from start-to-finish, and EOU posted a 12-for-21 effort in third-down conversions.

Senior quarterback Zach Bartlow threw four touchdowns for the third time this season, while junior wide receiver Brenden Kelly caught seven passes for 168 receiving yards and two scores. Defensively, sophomore defensive back Justin Hughes led the way with nine tackles, while senior defensive back Jesus Retano registered two interceptions. Senior cornerback John Payne added a fumble recovery and also returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. EOU's defense held the Tigers to only 80 passing yards, and the Mountaineers remained perfect (6-0) on the road.

MARIAN'S LAST TIME OUT
Marian collected its 20th straight win by defeating No. 15 Robert Morris, 32-7, on Nov. 19 in Indianapolis. Despite it being the Knights' lowest point total of the 2016 campaign, they managed to hold Robert Morris to only 210 yards and 11 first downs.

Ethan Darter tossed 16-of-26 for 227 yards and a touchdown, while Krishawn Hogan caught two passes for 52 yards and a score. On the ground, Jakhari Gore posted 100 yards on 15 carries, and Eric Price paced the defensive effort with eight tackles, one sack, and one pass breakup. He also forced and recovered a fumble in the first quarter.

As a team, Marian ranks in the top 20 nationally in 17 statistical categories, including pass efficiency (153.4 - 5th), first downs per game (24 - 5th), total scoring (458 - 6th), fourth-down conversion percentage (64.7 - 6th), and total defense per game (287.2 - 11th). The Knights will be hosting their first quarterfinal playoff game since 2012.
