EOU Women’s Soccer Loses in 1-0 Double-Overtime Heartbreaker

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The EOU women's soccer team looked to build-off Friday's 1-0 overtime victory on Saturday night against Northwest Christian.

However, the Beacons had other plans, defeating the Mountaineers, 1-0 in double-overtime. It would be the Mountaineers fourth straight overtime game and the seventh overtime game of the 2016 campaign.

Despite chances throughout the game to have the lead, EOU (8-4-4, 5-2-3 CCC) could not capitalize offensively. The Mounties out-shot Northwest Christian (6-9-1, 3-5-1 CCC), 8-4 including 4-1 with shots on goal. Of those eight shots, each was taken by a different Mountaineer.

Senior defender Katherine Hood and fellow senior midfielder Madissen Ostergaard each contributed a shot on goal.

Freshman goalie Cydni Cottrell got the start in the box and allowed one goal in nearly 104 minutes of play. However, until the Beacon game-winner, Cottrell and the EOU defense didn't allow a single shot on goal.

BY THE NUMBERS
12 – Shots taken in total for both EOU and Northwest Christian
4TH – Straight overtime game for EOU
