SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The EOU Women's soccer team took to the road Friday afternoon in hopes of breaking a 22-day skid without a victory.
It took overtime, but the Mountaineers did just that, defeating Corban 2-1 in Springfield, Ore.
EOU (8-4-3, 5-2-2 CCC), took the first goal of the match when in the first stanza senior defender
Katherine Hood connected a shot with the back of the net in the 42nd minute. It'd be Hood's second goal of the season and her first since Aug. 28.
However, Corban (9-6, 5-3 CCC) could not be deterred and the Warriors scored the equalizer to tie the game in the 76th minute. In fact, despite the score, Corban out-shot EOU 17-7, including an 8-3 shot on goal advantage.
The defense was key for both squads for the rest of the second half, as neither the Mounties nor Corban allowed each other to score during set time. Senior keeper
Jessica Parker notched seven saves, a new season high for the Mountie goalie.
Despite giving up a second half goal, the Mountaineers refused to play discouraged in overtime. That courage would be the difference maker, as sophomore forward
Zoe Anderson tallied her second goal of the 2016 campaign off an assist from fellow sophomore forward
Alexandria Cuaresma to seal the victory for the Blue and Gold in the 103rd minute of overtime.
The win over Corban gives EOU its first overtime win of the 2016 season and gives the Mountaineers some added momentum as they prepare for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament.

6TH – Win of the road this season for EOU
