HERMISTON, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Track and Field's
Ryan Rosenau won the decathlon at the 2015 Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships presented by U.S. Bank on Friday afternoon. Rosenau collected 6,687 points to win the event.
Ashanna Hodge finished in third place for the heptathlon.
Rosenau continued to increase his lead on the second day of the CCC Multi-Event Championships as he ran a time of 14.93 to win the 110 meter hurdles. This was his fifth event win in the decathlon. With his time of 14.93, he earned 858 points.
In the second event of the day, Rosenau did not lose much on his lead as he threw the discus 29.95 meters (98-3 ½). Rosenau cleared 3.85 (12-7 ½) meters in the pole vault, earning 576 points. After eight events, he held a 363 point lead over second place.
Rosenau continued to add to his lead in the javelin as he record a throw of 46.22 meters (151-08), for 533 points. He finished with a second place finish in the 1,500 meter run, with a time of 4:40.69, earning another 676 points.
Max Fahlgren, who finished in eighth place in the decathlon, earned 191 points in the 110 meter hurdles running a time of 22.28. He finished second in the discus by recording a throw of 34.16 meters (112-1 ¼) and earning 547 points. Fahlgren vaulted a height of 2.85 meters (9-4 ¼) in the pole vault. In the javelin, he collected a throw of 34.47 meters (113-01) and he finished the day by running the 1,500 in a time of 5:11.52.
Finishing with the fifth best in EOU history in the Heptathlon was
Ashanna Hodge with 4,062 points. Starting the day with the long jump, Hodge jumped a distance 5.02 meters (16-5 ¾), which earned her third place and 565 points.
In the javelin, Hodge recorded a throw of 17.13 meters (56-02), earning 236 points. Heading into the last event, Hodge was sitting in third place with 3,423 points. She collected 639 points in the 800 meter run as she ran a time of 2:34.41, to finish in third place.
The Mountaineers return to action next Saturday, May 2nd when they participate in the Border Clash hosted by Boise State University.
