Mountaineers Topple Yotes, 82-51

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team used a 24-2 run, spanning both halves, to cruise to an 82-51 victory at Quinn Coliseum Friday night.
 
Jordan Klebaum scored a game-high 20 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Mountaineers (20-5, 12-2 CCC) extended their win streak to six. Madeline Laan followed with 15 points and collected nine rebounds. Maya Ah You rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points. Maloree Moss dished out 10 assists on the evening.
 
Wirth scored a season-high 16 points for the Yotes (6-17, 5-9 CCC), who dropped their fifth-straight game.  Elisha Hensey had 10 points, six rebounds and five assists, with Kellie Ross scoring nine.

Klebaum scored eight early points, part of a 16-2 EOU run, to open the contest, but the Yotes answered with a 14-4 surge of their own, getting six points each from Aleah Lowber and Brittany Wirth, to cut the margin to 22-18.
 
Leading 29-25 with four minutes left in the half, EOU scored the final 10 points of the frame, including a pull-up jumper and a 3-pointer from Airashay Rogers.  Going into halftime the Mountaineers lead was 39-25 over the Yotes.
 
The Mountaineers used a 12-point run early in the second half to extend their lead to 53-27, at the 14 minute mark of the second half, after a three pointer by Nikki Osborne. Osborne's three pointer extended EOU's lead to 26 points.
 
Eastern Oregon continued to add to the lead, and after a jumper by Laan, EOU's lead was extended to 31 points, 72-41. The Mountaineers continued to hold onto a 30 point lead and EOU came away with an 82-51 victory over College of Idaho.
  
Eastern Oregon returns to action next Friday Feb. 13 when they host Corban University. College of Idaho returns to action on Friday as they host Northwest Christian.
