Men's Basketball Weekly Notes: CCC Semifinals

CCC Tournament
The Eastern Oregon University Men's Basketball Team advanced to the CCC Semifinals after defeating Concordia, 69-68, on Wednesday. EOU travels to Caldwell, Idaho on Saturday to face College of Idaho at 7 p.m. MT. The winner will advance to the CCC Championship game on Tuesday.
 
Looking at College of Idaho
The Yotes of College of Idaho enter the CCC Semifinals with a record of 26-5. College of Idaho is averaging 80.3 points per game, the highest scoring team in the CCC this season. Demetrius Perkins leads the way for the Yotes as he averages 14.2 poitns per game. Perkins is one of five College of Idaho players averaging double-digits per game. The Yotes are shooting 45.5 percent from the floor. College of Idaho is a perfect 15-0 at home this season.
 
Previous Matchups with College of Idaho
The Yotes defeated the Mountaineers in the two previous meetings this season. On Jan. 9 in Caldwell, Idaho, College of Idaho came away with a 94-75 victory over EOU. The next meeting, about a month later at Quinn Coliseum, the Yotes held on and defeated EOU, 86-83.
 
CCC Tournament Championship
The winner of the EOU and College of Idaho semifinal will face the winner of Southern Oregon and Warner Pacific on Tuesday to square off for the CCC Tournament Championship. The winner will earn an automatic berth to the 2015 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.If the Tournament Champion is also the Regular Season Champion the second automatic bid shall go to the team that is seeded second in the CCC tournament
 
Blocks
Saturdays, matchup between College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon will be a matchup of the top two shot blocking teams in the NAIA. College of Idaho leads the nation with 163 block shots. EOU has recorded 157 for the second most in the NAIA.
 
Scoring Average
Junior, Bryan McGriff is averaging 21.8 points per game to lead the Mountaineers in scoring. His 21.8 average is the tenth best in the nation this season.  
 
Last Game
he Eastern Oregon University Men's Basketball Team led only three times in Wednesday's Cascade Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals against, the two seed, Concordia University. The third lead came with 14 seconds left in the game when Bryan McGriff hit the game-winning layup and EOU defeated Concordia, 69-68. McGriff led the Mountaineers (15-14) with 26 points in the contest. Kalvin Johanson added 13 points, all in the second half, for EOU. De'Sean Mattox followed with 11 points and Case Rada scored 10 points to round out the double-figure scorers as the Mountaineers won their third straight contest.
 
What's Up Next
The Mountaineers will play in the CCC Tournament Championship game if they win on Saturday.
