Click Here CCC TournamentThe Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers opens up the CCC Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 25 when they travel to Portland, Ore. to face the Cavaliers of Concordia. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.
Qualifying for CCC TournamentsThe Mountaineers needed two conference victories this past weekend to qualify for the CCC Tournament. EOU ended up in a three way tie with Northwest and Oregon Tech for seventh in the conference. After breaking down the tiebreakers the Mountaineers earned the seventh seed, with Oregon Tech taking the eighth and Northwest falling sport of the CCC Tournament.
Last WeekendLast weekend the Mountaineers came away with two huge victories to claim a spot in the CCC Tournament. On Saturday, in a must win game for EOU, With six seconds remaining in regular time,
Bryan McGriff hit a free throw which tied the game at 68-68 and forced overtime, where the Eastern Oregon University Men's Basketball team outscored the Northwest University Eagles, 10-4. EOU came away with a 78-72 victory over Northwest on Friday evening. McGriff led the way for the Mountaineers (13-14, 5-12 CCC) scoring 25 points and collecting 15 rebounds.
De'Sean Mattox added 22 points to help the Mountaineers snap a six game losing streak.
Case Rada and
Deonta Edwards rounded out the double-figure scorers for EOU with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Saturday, Behind a game-high 36 points of
Bryan McGriff, the Eastern Oregon University Men's Basketball team defeated The Evergreen State College Geoducks, 86-73, on Saturday night. With the win, the Mountaineers clinched a spot in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament. McGriff shot 12-of-20 from the floor to lead the Mountaineers.
De'Sean Mattox added 18 for the Mountaineers (14-14, 6-12 CCC) as they won their second straight contest.

Previous Matchups Against ConcordiaThe Mountaineers were defeated by Concordia in both of their contests this season. In the first matchup of the season, Concordia defeated EOU, 78-60. Three weeks later, the Mountaineers were looking at upsetting the then-No. 11 Concordia in Portland, Ore. but the Mountaineers feel short and were defeated by one point, 68-67, in overtime.
Looking at ConcordiaThe Cavaliers enter the CCC Tournament with a 24-5 record and a 14-4 mark in the CCC. Concordia tied with College of Idaho and Warner Pacific for first place in the conference. Concordia enters the CCC Tournament as the No. 2 seed and hold a record of 12-3 at home on the season. Tyler Velasquez leads the way for the Cavaliers as he is averaging 15.9 points per game. On the season the Cavaliers are averaging 78.6 points per game and are shooting 46 percent from the floor.
36 Point GameOn Saturday night,
Bryan McGriff scored 36 points in the victory over Evergreen. The 36 points is the third most points scored this season for a EOU player in a single game. Teammate,
De'Sean Mattox scored 44 and 42 points in games earlier this season.
Block PartyThe Mountaineers continue to lead the nations in block shots. EOU has blocked 155 shots on the season and are averaging a nations best 5.5 blocked shots per game.
Kalvin Johanson leads the team with 64 blocks on the season.
Offensive ReboundsEarlier this season, the Mountaineers grabbed 35 offensive rebounds in a game. This is the most offensive rebounds in a game this season in the NAIA.
Player of the WeekBryan McGriff has been named the CCC Red Lion Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
McGriff, a junior forward from Las Vegas, Nev., recorded his 13th double-double of the season, as he scored a game-high 25 points and game-high 15 rebounds. McGriff hit a free throw, with six seconds left in the game to force overtime. EOU defeated Northwest, 78-72. The next night, McGriff scored a game-high 36 points on 12-of-20 shooting to lead the Mountaineers to an 86-73 victory over Evergreen. He collected nine rebounds in the victory that gave EOU a berth in the CCC Tournament.
