Cold Shooting Leads EOU Women’s Hoops to 60-50 Loss to Northwest Christian

EUGENE, Ore – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team hit just one field goal in the second quarter and shot 32 percent, ultimately resulting in a 60-50 defeat to Northwest Christian (NCU) on Saturday night.

Key Performances
Senior guard Jordan Klebaum scored 16 points on 5-for-12 shooting, while senior forward Nikki Osborne added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Three players tallied double figures for NCU, as Nikki Duncan paced the Beacons with 12 points.

The Storyline
After NCU (6-5, 2-2 CCC) jumped to a 10-2 lead, EOU responded with a 15-7 run, as Klebaum mustered seven points amidst the burst to give the Mountaineers a 17-15 advantage with 2:20 remaining in the opening quarter.

However, things went downhill for EOU in the second quarter. A layup by senior forward Madeline Laan cut NCU's lead to one (20-19) with 8:54 left in the stanza, and that ended up being the Navy and Gold's only field goal of the quarter.

EOU (7-6, 3-1 CCC) remained within single digits for the rest of the contest but never overcame the hump. A layup by Klebaum made it a 40-36 game with 4:09 left in the third quarter, but the Mountaineers never got closer for the remainder of the game.

Stats of the Game
1 – EOU hit just only field goal in the second quarter, a drought that turned a two-point lead into a seven-point halftime deficit.
2 – Normally a hot outside shooting team, the Mountaineers hit only two three's in the loss.
