Mountaineer Women’s Soccer Tops Warner Pacific, 2-1

PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite surrendering a late goal, the Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team remained steady in a 2-1 victory over Warner Pacific on Saturday night. The Mountaineers earned the No. 3 seed in the 2015 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Women's Soccer Championship presented by U.S. Bank.

With the win, head women's soccer coach Justin Wagar earned his 100th victory as a coach.

"I'm proud of how the team played this weekend," said Wagar. "We're excited for the playoffs."

Key Performances
Both senior forward Crystal Schuder and freshman forward Alexandria Cuaresma netted goals for the Navy and Gold.

In the box, junior keeper Jessica Parker tallied the victory for EOU.

The Storyline
After Schuder came up empty in the 13th minute, the Penticton, B.C., native countered with a score in the 18th minute to give EOU an early 1-0 lead. The Mountaineers had three chances to score in the final 10 minutes of the period but instead rode the one-goal advantage into halftime.

Cuaresma tacked on an insurance goal in the 60th minute to put EOU on top, 2-0.

Although the Knights (2-11-1, 1-9-1 CCC) cut the Navy and Gold's lead to one (2-1) in the 77th minute, EOU allowed just one shot for the remainder of the game and held on for the triumph.
