EOU Men’s Basketball Drops Overtime Decision to Simpson

REDDING, Calif. – Despite a fourth-consecutive double-double performance from junior guard Kentrell Washington, the Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team fell in overtime to Simpson on Saturday night, 88-81, resulting in the weekend split with the Red Hawks.

Washington shot 10-for-19 to net 27 points and snagged 12 rebounds to lead the Navy and Gold. In four games this season, Washington is averaging 24 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest.

Senior guard Case Rada tallied 12 points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard Tate de Laveaga and senior forward Christian Parrott added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

EOU was just 4-for-22 (18.2 percent) from three-point range, while Simpson shot a 10-for-22 (45.5 percent) clip from beyond the arc. In 40 minutes, both teams launched a 39.1 percent effort from the field.

The Navy and Gold managed to overcome a seven-point halftime deficit to force the extra period, but the Mountaineers were outscored 19-12 in the frame resulting in the defeat.

EOU (2-2) returns to La Grande on Friday for the Quinn Classic. The Mountaineers will square off against Victoria at 7 p.m.
