Men's Basketball Weekly Notes: Warner Pacific and Concordia

This Weekend
This weekend the Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team will complete against No. 20 Warner Pacific Knights on Friday night and the Saturday face No. 11 Concordia Cavaliers this weekend in Portland, Ore.
 
Last Time Against
Warner Pacific

The Mountaineers squared off against the Knights of Warner Pacific early this season. On Jan. 3, Bryan McGriff led EOU with 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting but it proved to be not enough as the hot shooting Knights defeated EOU, 82-60. Warner Pacific shot 56 percent (26-of-46) from the floor.
Concordia
On Jan. 2, EOU was defeated by then- No. 13 Concordia, 78-60, on Friday evening at Quinn Coliseum. McGriff led the Mountaineers with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Austin Strock came off the bench and went 5-of-12 shooting for 13 points to round out the double-figure scorers for EOU. Concordia shot 54 percent from the floor for the fifth time this season. 
 
Four Straight Against Rank Teams
This weekend will mark the second and third straight games against ranked teams for the Mountaineers. The following weekend, Feb. 6, EOU will host another ranked school for their fourth straight contest against a ranked team when College of Idaho comes to Quinn Coliseum.
 
Double-Doubles
Junior Bryan McGriff has recorded 10 double-doubles on the season. This is tied for the most double-doubles in the CCC this season. He is tied with Esvan Milddleton of Concordia for the most in the CCC. The 10 double-doubles are the fifth most in the nation this season.
 
Three-Pointers
On the season the Mountaineers have made 10 or more 3-pointers in nine different contests, including two of their last three games. EOU has a season-high 18 3-pointers made against Multnomah on Dec. 13.
 
On the Road
During the 2014-15 season, the Mountaineers are 4-4 on road games. Their last road win of the season came at Corban on Jan. 17.
 
Single-Season Block Shot Record
Last season, Kalvin Johanson recorded 66 block shots on the season, which is a single-season school record for EOU.  This season he has already blocked 55 shots. He has seven games left to break his previous school record. Johanson has already set the single game recorded this year with seven blocks against Portland Bible College.
 
Home Games
The Eastern Oregon hoops season is coming to an end. EOU only has three more home games left this season, Feb. 6 vs. College of Idaho and Feb. 13 against Corban and Feb. 14 against Northwest Christian. Come on out and support the Mountaineers.
 
56 Points

The Mountaineers scored 56 points last Saturday against Southern Oregon was a season low. EOU has scored below 70 points only five times this season.
 
Last Weekend
The last weekend, EOU went 1-1 with a victory Friday night over Oregon Tech, 66-61. The next night EOU was defeated by then-No. 10 Southern Oregon, 75-56.
 
What's Up Next
EOU returns home on Friday, Feb. 6 when they host College of Idaho at Quinn Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT. Feb. 6 will be a White Out at Quinn, WEAR WHITE and get Loud!
