Bryan McGriff led the Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team with 23 points, on 9-of-17 shooting, but it was not enough as EOU was defeated by Northwest Christian University, 77-68, on Friday evening. Following McGriff was
De'Sean Mattox who scored 18 points for the Mountaineers.
Deonta Edwards added 13 points and collected nine rebounds for EOU. On Saturday, the Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team shot 11-for-26 (42 percent) from behind the arc in their 70-59, victory over Corban University. Rada, a junior from Kennewick, Wash., led the way for the Mountaineers (11-8, 3-6 CCC) with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including six from behind the arc.
Bryan McGriff added 16, while
De'Sean Mattox scored 14 points in the victory.
Scouting the Opponents
Oregon TechThe Owls come into this weekend with a record of 12-7 overall and 5-4 in the CCC. Oregon Tech is led by Lavar Moore, who leads the CCC in scoring average. Moore is averaging 24.8 points per game this season. The Owls have made 9.7 three pointers per game, which is the fifth most made threes per game. ON the season Oregon Tech is averaging 79.7 points per game while allowing 70.3 points per game. On the season, Oregon Tech is 2-4 on the road.
Southern OregonThe Raiders of Southern Oregon come into this weekend with a record of 17-3 overall and 7-2 in CCC action. Southern Oregon is currently in a four way tie for first place in the CCC. They are tied with Concordia, College of Idaho, and Warner Pacific. The Raiders have won their last four games entering this weekend. Eric Thompson leads the team in points and rebounds per game. Thompson is averaging 20.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Southern Oregon is averaging 80.3 points per game, the fourth most in the CCC this season.
Top Scorers in the CCCBetween all three teams this weekend, you will have the chance to see the top four scorers in the CCC in action. Lavar Moore of Oregon Tech leads the CCC averaging 24.8 points per game. EOU has the second and third scorers with
Bryan McGriff averaging 22.2 points per game and
De'Sean Mattox scoring 21.3 points per game. The Raiders Eric Thompson is fourth has he averages 20.7 points per game. They are the only players in the conference to be averaging over 20 points per game. All four are ranked in the top 20 in the nation.
Mattox Goes for 42On Dec. 19,
De'Sean Mattox led the Mountaineers with 42 points against the Raiders. Mattox shot 6-of-13 on three pointers and was 18-of-22 from the free throw line.
Double-DoublesBryan McGriff has recorded 10 double-doubles on the season. This is the third most double-doubles in the NAIA this season. Tim Weber and Eric Thompson are also collecting double-doubles on the season. Weber has six double-doubles and Thompson has five.
Block ShotsEastern Oregon has blocked 112 shots on the season and averaging 5.9 blocks per game this season. Both of these rank first in the nation.
