Coaches' Top 25
The Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers held steady at No. 11 in the third regular season edition of the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. EOU received 452 points, 29 points tenth ranked Midland (Neb.). The fourth edition of the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll comes out on Tuesday, Sept. 30th.
 
Red Lion Player of the Week
Emily Nay, has been named the Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Monday. Nay was a key piece to the Mountaineers perfect week. On Friday night, Nay led the Mountaineers defense with 12 blocks on the game. EOU recorded 14 blocks against Corban. She also recorded 12 kills. On Saturday, Nay recorded three blocks and seven kills. The Mountaineers have won nine straight contests.
 
Scouting the Opponents
Southern Oregon

The Raiders of Southern Oregon come into the contest against EOU with a record of 10-3 and 4-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference record. Southern Oregon is ranked No. 14 in the NAIA. The Raiders dropped its last contest to Concordia (Ore.), 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 22-25, 19-25), for their first conference loss of the season. The loss snapped a five match winning streak. Motade Atanda leads the Raiders with 162 kills on the season. Lauren McGowne leads the Raiders with 424 assists on the season.
Oregon Tech
Oregon Tech Owls come into the weekend with 15-4 and 3-2 CCC record. In their last match, the Owls defeated Warner Pacific, 3-0, for their third conference win of the season. Kelsey Sampson leads the Owls in digs (237) and kills (159) on the season. Oregon Tech is a perfect 4-0 at home during the 2014 season. The Owls rank fourth in the NAIA in total blocks with 182.5 on the season and sixth in the nation in service aces with 135.
 
Last Weekend
Last weekend, EOU went 2-0, with victories over Corban University and Northwest Christian University. On Friday, EOU swept the Warriors 25-17, 25-17, and 25-22. Casey Loper and Emily Nay recorded a game-high,12 kills, apiece. Nay collected a game-high, 12 blocks. Loper finished the match with 15 digs and Jessalyn Smith followed with 13 digs. The Mountaineers continued its success on Saturday with its fourth straight sweep over a conference opponent. EOU swept Northwest Christian, 25-11, 25-20, 25-19, improving to 5-0 in conference play.  Loper led the way as she recorded a game-high, 14 kills. 
 
Southern vs. Eastern
Friday nights matchup between Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon will mark the first time the teams have met while both ranking in the top 15 of the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
 
Verse Ranked Opponents
Friday night will mark the second ranked opponent EOU will play against this season. The only other ranked opponent EOU has faced this season was then No. 8 Biola (Calif.) in the Concordia (Calif.) Labor Day Tournament.  
 
What's On Tap
After this weekend the Mountaineers return home to take on Concordia and Warner Pacific at Quinn Coliseum. Wear Blue and Get Loud for these contests. EOU hosts Concordia on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Warner Pacific on Saturday at 3 p.m.
