­Red Lion Player of the Week
For the second consecutive week, Casey Loper has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week, the CCC office announced Monday. Loper led the Mountaineers to 3-1 record at the CUI Labor Day Tournament this past weekend. Loper led EOU in kills during every game they played in. She recorded 24 kills against Westmont (Calif.) on Friday night; her third 20 plus kill game of the season. The 24 kills is a season and career high for Loper. She also recorded 15 digs and five block assists against the Warriors. Loper has recorded double-figure kills in every match for EOU this season. She currently ranks number two in the nation in total kills (176), fourth in blocks (44) and fifth in kills per game (4.6).

Can't make it to Quinn Coliseum for the home opener for EOU Volleyball. Don't worry! Every home EOU volleyball game is streamed online at EOUsports.com. The video stream is a pay-per-view event.
 
Last Week
Last week the Mountaineers went 3-1 at the Concordia (Calif.) Labor Day Tournament. EOU defeated Carroll, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-21), Westmont 3-1 (20-25, 25-15, 30-28, 25-23) and Montana Tech 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18). The Mountaineers lone loss in California was to No. 8 Biola 1-3 (19-25, 22-25, 26-24, 26-28).
 
Coaches' Top 25
EOU is currently ranked No. 23 in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The first regular season Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll comes out is Sept. 9th.
 
Last Year's Home Opener
In last year's home opener for EOU, the Mountaineers defeated then No. 6 College of Idaho Yotes, 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-17). The Mountaineers also won its 2012 home opener against Corban. The last home opener loss for EOU came on Sept. 11, 2009 to Southern Oregon.
 
National Top 5
The Mountaineers currently have three players ranked in the top five in several statistical categories. Casey Loper is second in the nation in total kills (176), fourth in total blocks (44) and fifth in kills per game (4.6). Rachelle Chamberlain and Jessalyn Smith rank third in their categories. Chamberlain has dished out 386 assists and Smith has 208 digs to be third in their categories.
 
Starting the Season
For the second straight season, the Eastern Oregon has compiled nine wins during the first month of the season. Last season, en route to the best season in EOU volleyball history, the Mountaineers were 9-2 during August. This season the Mountaineers compiled a record of 9-1.
