EOU Draws Against No. 15 Cal State San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team opened up its 2014 season with a 0-0 tie against No. 15 Cal State San Marcos on Sunday afternoon. This was EOU's first tie against a ranked opponent.
 
EOU had a scoring chance early in the first half against the Cougars. Seventeen minutes into the contest Katherine Hood took a shot on goal but Amanda Sears recorded the save.
 
EOU continued to play solid defense as the Cougars recorded 11 shots in the first half. Jessica Parker recorded three saves in the half to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
 
In the 57th minute of the match, Cal State San Marcos had a breakaway chance to break the scoreless tie. Megan Pfrunder fired a shot on EOU's goalie Jessica Parker, who dove to her right and recorded the save to keep the game scoreless.
 
With 15 minutes to go in the contest, Danika Pink fired a shot for Eastern Oregon that went wide left.
 
The Cougars had a chance to end the game in regulation as Amy Young went for a header. However, her header went off the crossbar to keep the game scoreless and heading to overtime.
 
Cal State San Marcos had the only two scoring attempts in the first overtime period but both of the Cougars shots went wide. The Cougars kept the pressure on the Mountaineers in the second overtime period as Monica Aguilera had two shots on goal but Parker recorded the saves.
 
After 110 minutes of play the Mountaineers and Cougars settled for a 0-0 tie.
 
The Mountaineers return to action on Tuesday, Aug. 26 when they play at San Diego Christian. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
