CCC Preseason Poll
The Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll. EOU received 54 points to earn the fifth spot. Concordia was the Coaches' preseason favorite to win the conference.

Looking at EOU
EOU returns 11 players from last year's squad and welcome nine newcomers.  EOU has nine newcomers joining the program, one transfer and nine prep standouts. The lone transfer is Rachel Kelley, who transfers in from Mt. Hood CC. The eight prep standouts are Alora Brown (La Grande, Ore.), Maddi Cillay (Pullman, Wash.), Kendra Corless (Sandpoint, Idaho), Makensie Forsyth (Prosser, Wash.), Danika Pink (Pasco, Wash.), Alexis Smith (Post Falls, Idaho) and Charli Torres (Vancouver, Wash.). Alexandra Agular joins the team after spending the last year at EOU as a student. Eastern Oregon returns Danielle Robinson, who earned First Team All-CCC last season.  EOU looks to replace Second Team All-CCC player Mauriana Gonzalez, who led the Mountaineers last season in goals with six.

Looking at the Opponents
Cal State San Marcos
CSUSM appears well-equipped to repeat as Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) champions, as seven regular starters from 2013 return to this year's lineup. The Cougars have their top-two points leaders back for their junior seasons, Paulina Good (15 points – 6 G, 3 A) and Natalie Lara (9 points  - 4 G, 1 A), as well as two-year starting goalkeeper,Amanda Sears (.64 GAA in 2013). Brianne Searl and Nicole Luna will have one final campaign trolling the back line, and Courtney Kay, who started all 18 of her appearances a year ago, returns to the midfield.
San Diego Christian
After a school-record nine wins last season, the Lady Hawks Soccer team brings back 92 percent of their scoring and hopes to exceed last year's record-breaking year. The team also welcomes 19 new players, including NCAA Div. I and Div. II transfers. Div. I transfer Katherine Day will make an immediate impact up top at the forward position as she played in all 20 games as a true freshman at Northern Colorado University last year. The Christian High graduate scored an All-time CIF San Diego Section record 61 goals in her senior season. Elya Jasper (8 goals), Ashley Jarosin (4 goals), Vivian Oray (4 goals), and Zoar Gonzales (3 goals) bring goal scoring success back to SDC in 2014.
Soka
The Lions of Soka University opened up its season on Aug. 16 against Hope International. The Lions were defeated 2-1 by Hope International. Leading scorer from the 2013 season, Denim Belville scored the lone goal for Soka. Last season Belville scored eight goals and collected eight assists to lead the Lions.

Verse Top 25 Teams
Last season the Mountaineers only played on team ranked in the Top 25. EOU lost the game, 3-0, to then No. 4 Concordia (Ore.). This season the Mountaineers open up its season against No. 15 Cal State San Marcos, who won the A.I.I last season. After the preseason coaches' poll was released, EOU is only scheduled to play two ranked teams this season.

Last season
Last season the Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team finished with a winning record for the second team in school history. The Mountaineers finished the year with a 9-5-1 overall record and 5-4 in CCC action. They finished 5th in the CCC last year to advance to the postseason for the second time in school history. The Mountaineers were knocked out of the quarterfinals by fourth seed Southern Oregon.
