This week the Mountaineers return to Cascade Collegiate Conference action when they travel to Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
 
CCC Player of the Week
On Monday, Dec. 15, De'Sean Mattox was named CCC Red Lion Player of the Week. Mattox led the Mountaineers to a 101-83 victory over Multnomah University. Mattox led the EOU with a game-high and season-highs in points (44) and rebounds (14). This was his second double-double of the season. He was 15-for-24 from the floor and 9-of-15 from behind the arc. This was the second straight week that EOU had claimed the Player of the Week honors.
 
Last Time Out
De'Sean Mattox scored a game-high 44 points leading Eastern Oregon University men's basketball past Multnomah University, 101-83, Saturday afternoon at Quinn Coliseum. Mattox shot 15-of-24 from the field, including 9-for-16 from behind the arc, in the win for the Mountaineers (9-2). Bryan McGriff added 19 points and Deonta Edwards scored 13 in EOU's third-straight win.  EOU hit a season-best 18 three pointers and shot 50 percent from the floor.
 
Looking at the Opponents
Southern Oregon

The Raiders of Southern Oregon enter this weekend with an 11-2 overall record and 1-1 in the CCC. The No. 16 ranked Raiders are averaging 77.6 points per game, while dishing 17.0 assists per game. Eric Thompson leads Southern Oregon in scoring with 21.5 points per game. Tim Weber leads the Raiders in rebounding (7.3 rebounds per game) and assists (7.1 assists per game). Last weekend, Southern Oregon defeated UC-Merced, 94-71.
Oregon Tech
The Owls of Oregon Tech come into this weekend with a 7-5 overall record and 0-2 in the CCC. The Owls won their last game on Dec. 13, when they traveled to Redding, Calif. and defeated Simpson University, 94-85. Oregon Tech averages 81.2 points per game. They are led by Lavar Moore, who is averaging 23.3 points per game, who is averaging the most points in the CCC.
 
Top Scorers in the CCC
This weekend EOU will face the Cascade Collegiate Conference scoring leader in Lavar Moore of Oregon Tech. Moore is averaging 23.3 points per game to lead the CCC. Prior to seeing Moore, EOU faces Eric Thompson, who is third in the CCC in scoring averaging 21.5 points per game. Bryan McGriff is averaging 21.7 points per game; the second most in the CCC and De'Sean Mattox is fourth averaging 21.3 points per game.
 
44 Points
De'Sean Mattox scored 44 points against the Lions of Multnomah University on Dec. 13. Mattox is the second 40 point scorer for EOU in the last two years. He is the first since Kyllian Wood scored 41 points against Evergreen last season. Mattox was nine points away from tying the school record of 53 points scored in a game on Feb. 11, 1992 by Brant Mayo against Albertson College.
 
Team Scoring
The Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers are averaging 91.0 points per game, the most in the CCC. The 91.0 points per game is the seventh best in the NAIA.
 
Three-Point Percentage
EOU is shooting 41.1 percent from behind the arc on the season. This is the second best in the CCC. On the season, EOU has made 120 three-pointers. De'Sean Mattox is leading the Mountaineers from behind the arc, as he is hitting 47 percent. Mattox has made a team-high 33 three-pointers on the season. Case Rada follows with 25 three pointers, while Bryan McGriff has added 20 threes on the season.
 
Collecting the Rebounds

Eastern Oregon continues to lead the NAIA in rebounding per game and total rebounding margin. EOU is collecting 49.3 points per game and outrebounding opponents by 16.4 rebounds per game. Against Multnomah, EOU outrebounded the Lions by 18 rebounds per game.
