Gonzaga Defeats EOU, 92-44

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team was overpowered by the NCAA Division I Gonzaga University Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon's exhibition contest. EOU was defeated 92-44.

The Mountaineers struggled early, offensively, to make any shots and Gonzaga used a 20-4 run in the first half of the contest to take control of the game. The Mountaineers tried to battle back and pulled within nine points, 24-15, after a Nikki Osborne three pointer.

After pulling within nine points, the Bulldogs answered to close out the first half on a 21-6 run to take a 45-21 halftime lead over EOU.

The Mountaineers continued to battle in the second half of the contest. However, the Bulldogs were too much for EOU and they could never mount an offensive attack. Eastern Oregon shot 29 percent from the floor in the second half and the Mountaineers were defeated, 92-44.

For the game, the Mountaineers shot 35.4 percent from the field and 11 percent, one-for-nine, from behind the arc. Gonzaga shot 50 percent from the floor.

The Mountaineers return to action on Sunday, Nov. 9 when they travel to College Park, Wash. to face Walla Walla University. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
