LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon University's Volleyball team grabbed a three set victory over Warner Pacific College Saturday, 25-10, 25-15, 25-12.
The Mountaineers (18-2, 8-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference) won their 12th out of their last 13 matches, including their third straight. They are also 33-1 in their last 34 matches at home.
Casey Loper had a match high 15 kills to lead EOU. The senior became the second player in program history to reach the 1,000th kill plateau. Grace Deboodt holds the school record of 1,261. Loper finished with a .609 attack percentage Saturday.
Amanda Miller added 12 kills.
Rachelle Chamberlain dished out 35 assists. Defensively,
Jessalyn Smith had 13 digs.
Emily Nay had four block assists.
Eastern Oregon finished with a .481 attack percentage and held WPC to .052. EOU also had a 46-19 advantage in kills. The Mountaineers held a 7.5-2 edge in total blocks.
Nicole Koncade led Warner Pacific (4-7, 2-7 CCC) with six kills. Marchelle Bostic had 12 assists. Devan Belshe had six digs.
The Mountaineers jumped off to a huge start against the Knights. After an attack error by Cara Wonsley, Eastern Oregon led, 9-2. EOU continued to extend its lead and a kill by Miller extended the lead to 12 points, 20-8. The Mountaineers took set one, 25-10, after an attack error by Devan Belshe.
Like set one, EOU raced out to a fast start, as EOU led 9-3, after a kill by
Emily Nay. The Knights continued to battle but could not get any momentum going in the second set and could not get closer than four points in the set. Loper recorded the kill that gave EOU set two, 25-15, and a 2-0 lead over Warner Pacific.
Warner Pacific looked to be putting up a fight in the third set. A kill by Koncade, put the Knights down 5-4. The Mountaineer did not let them get any closer as EOU scored the next six points to take a seven point lead, 11-4. EOU continued to extend its lead and grew it to 14 points after a Loper kill. The Mountaineers took the third set, 25-12, and swept the Knights.
