Box Score LA GRANDE, Ore. – Sophomore
Kelsey Hill came off the bench and scored 20 points to lead the No. 16 Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team to an 83-59 victory over visiting Warner Pacific College, Friday Night at Quinn Coliseum.
Hill shot 7-of-8 from the field and 5-of-6 from behind the arc. She led EOU with 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.
Brittney Newcomb scored a game-high 24 points. Courtney Walchli led Warner Pacific with 17 points.
The Mountaineers jumped on the Knights early as they opened up the first five minutes of the contest on an 18-4 run. During the run the Mountaineers hit three of its 14 three pointers in the contest.
Eastern Oregon continued to dominate in the first half and to dominate on the defensive end of the court. After Walchli made a layup, EOU held the Knights scoreless for the next four minutes of the contest. During the four minute stretch EOU scored 18 points to take a 30 point lead, 44-14.
The Knights trimmed the Mountaineers lead down to 22 to go into halftime as EOU led, 47-25 at the break.
EOU continued to grow its lead early in the second half and after a
Payton Parrish three pointer, the Mountaineers found themselves on top by 33 points, 67-34. The Knights scored next five points to trim the Mountaineers lead to 28 points, 67-39.
However, the Mountaineers answered by going on an 8-0 run to build its lead back up to 35 points, 79-35. Warner Pacific scored the 14 of the least 18 points of the game. But it was not enough as EOU came away with an 83-59 victory.
Eastern Oregon returns to action tomorrow when they host Concordia at 5:30 p.m. at Quinn Coliseum. Warner Pacific is back in action tomorrow night as they travel to Caldwell, Idaho to face College of Idaho at 5:30 p.m. MT.
