Last Weekend
Last Weekend the Mountaineers went 1-1 last weekend. On Friday evening, EOU was defeated by Northwest Christian, 76-59. Eastern Oregon struggled to contain Austin Kuemper, who scored 22 points for the Beacons. The Beacons shot 49 percent from the floor en route to the victory over the Mountaineers. On Saturday, the Mountaineers survived a late second half run by Corban to come away with a 74-65 victory. EOU led by as many as 20 points in the second half, before the Warriors trimmed the Mountaineers lead down to four points. However, EOU came away with a hard fought victory.

Scouting the Opponents
Oregon Tech

The Owls of Oregon Tech come into this game with the Mountaineers with an 11-10 record and 4-5 in CCC action. The Owls are currently on a three game losing streak; which is the longest losing streak of the season for Oregon Tech. On the season, the Owls are scoring 78.5 points per game and giving up 73 points. Oregon Tech ranks first in the NAIA in total made three pointers. Oregon Tech has made 222 three pointers on the season. They are currently second in the nation making 10.6 three pointers per game.
Southern Oregon
Southern Oregon enters the weekend with a 17-4 overall mark and 6-3 in the CCC. The Raiders won its last game on Jan. 18 when they defeated Oregon Tech, 86-74. Southern Oregon outscores its opponents by 14.6 points per game. The Raiders are averaging 85.8 points per game while allowing its opponents to score 71.2 points per game. Southern Oregon tops the nation in total assists on the season as they have dished out 440 assists. They are averaging 20.1 assists per game, which is the best in the nation. Leading the Raiders in assists is Jeff Bush. Bush leads the nation in total assists (142) and is second in assists per game (6.8).

Earlier This Season
As the clock expired the three pointer from Oregon Tech's Brandon Bautista rolled off the rim and the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers came away with a two point, 75-73, victory over the Owls on Saturday night. EOU had three players score in double digits led by Craig Tuckers, 18 points. Trevor Phillips and Tony Eackles Jr. followed with 15 and 14 points, respectfully. With 2:18 to go in the game the Phillips gave EOU the lead, which they held the rest of the game, 74-73. With EOU ahead by one, 74-73, Kalvin Johanson blocked Waits layup attempt to keep the Mountaineers on top. EOU added one free throw with 23 seconds left to make it 75-73. The No. 2 Southern Oregon University Raiders cruised by Eastern Oregon University, 83-60, on Friday night at Quinn Coliseum. The Raiders had five players score in double digits in the victory led by Eric Thompson's 16 points. Southern Oregon, the nation's best team in field goal defense, held the Mountaineers to 36 percent shooting on the evening going 19-53.

Blocking Shots
Eastern Oregon is second in the NAIA in total block shots on the season. EOU has blocked 95 shots on the season and are blocking 5 shots per game. Eastern Oregon only trails College of Idaho in block shot. College of Idaho has blocked 99 shots this season. Leading the Mountaineers in blocks is Kalvin Johanson. Johanson has 43 blocks on the season. He averages 2.3 blocks per game.

Ranked Opponents
This weekend EOU will face Southern Oregon for the second time this season and the second time that the Raiders have been ranked in the top 10. Southern Oregon is the only top 10 opponent that EOU has faced this season. EOU is 0-1 verse opponents ranked in the top 10.

Three Point Shot
On the season EOU has made 10 or more three pointers in seven games. The last game EOU hit 10 three was on Jan. 7 when the Mountaineers defeated Walla Walla University, 93-84. Eastern Oregon is 5-2 on the season when they hit 10 or more three pointers.
