Box Score LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 11 Eastern Oregon University Volleyball team extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-16), victory over Oregon Tech.
Casey Loper led the Mountaineers with 13 kills.
EOU was the first to score a point in the set but the Owls quickly answered to tie the set at one. This was the only tie in the first set, as the Mountaineers started to pull away scoring seven of the first ten points of the set.
Oregon Tech trimmed the lead four points, 11-7, after an attack error by
Stefani Sorensen. However the Mountaineers would go on a 7-1 run to take an 18-8 lead. EOU continued to extend its lead and after a
Katie Keeney kill gave the Mountaineers a 25-11 first set victory.
Set two belonged to EOU as the Mountaineers led the entire set, but Oregon Tech kept the sets close. The Mountaineers scored 10 of the first fourteen points to take a six point lead, 10-4. EOU continued to build on its lead and built the lead to 11, 17-6, after a
Karly Stack ace.
Oregon Tech tried to comeback and cut the lead to nine points but could not get any closer the rest of the set. EOU took set two, 25-13, and a 2-0 lead going into set three.
EOU and Oregon Tech were locked in a tight battle early in set three as neither team took a lead over two points for the first 12 points of the set. With EOU up, 6-5, the Mountaineers scored the next five points to take an, 11-5, lead.
Oregon Tech continued to battle but could not get the lead closer than seven points the rest of the set. EOU continued to extend its lead and a kill by
Casey Loper gave EOU a 25-16 third set victory for a three game sweep of Oregon Tech.
EOU hosts Southern Oregon tomorrow at 7 p.m. PT, while Oregon Tech travels to Caldwell, Idaho to face College of Idaho at 7 p.m. MT.
