Were going Streaking (Sept. 24)
The Mountaineers are going streaking. Entering Friday Nights match against Oregon Tech, the Mountaineers have won a season high nine matches in a row. Along with the winning-streak, the Mountaineers have not dropped a set since Aug. 31. Currently, EOU has won 20 straight sets. Eastern Oregon also has a winning streak going at Quinn Coliseum, as they have won 13 straight at home.
Scouting the Upcoming Matches
Oregon Tech
The Owls of Oregon Tech make the trip to La Grande with a record of 9-10 overall and 2-3 in the CCC. Oregon Tech is led by Kelsey Sampson who has 177 kills on the season. As a team the Owls are hitting .114 on the season and average 10.4 kills per set and 9.8 assists per set.
Southern Oregon
The Raiders of Southern Oregon come into the weekends trips with a record of 6-6 overall and 3-2 in CCC action. The Raiders play College of Idaho before coming to La Grande on Saturday, are led by Liz Madden who has 88 kills on the season. Southern Oregon holds a hitting percentage of .206 for the season and average 12.2 kills per set and 11.4 assists per set.
Record Breaking
The EOU Volleyball team continues to break school records as they continue to climb towards the top of the Tachikara-NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. On Tuesday the third edition of the Coaches' Poll was released and EOU jumped three spots, from No. 14 to No. 11. This is the highest the volleyball program at EOU has been ranked.
Loper Earns Conference Honors
Junior
Casey Loper has earned CCC Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week for her performance from Sept. 16-22. Loper led the Mountaineers to a 2-0 week last week. She led the teams in kills in both games averaging 13 kills per match. Loper recorded hitting percentages of .571 against NCU and .440 against Corban. Loper is tied for the team lead with 198 kills on the season. She is 15th in the NAIA with a hitting percentage of .374 for the season. This is the second time this season Loper has earned CCC Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week.
Leading the CCC
The Mountaineers are leading the Cascade Conference in a few different categories. As a team, EOU is No. 1 in hitting percentage (.245), assists (744/12.61 per set) and kills (799/13.54 per set).
Casey Loper and
Stefani Sorensen are tied for first for the most kills in the conference with 198. Loper also ranks first in hitting percentage as she is hitting .374 on the season.
